Covestro Sucks Customer Reviews and Feedback

From Everything.Sucks

Covestro AG is a German company which produces a variety of polyurethane and polycarbonate based raw materials. Products include isocyanates and polyols for cellular foams, thermoplastic polyurethane and polycarbonate pellets, as well as polyurethane based additives used in the formulation of coatings and adhesives. It is a Bayer spin off formed in the fall of 2015 and was formerly called Bayer MaterialScience, Bayer's $12.3 billion materials science division. Covestro shares were first offered on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange in October 2015. Bayer sold its entire remaining stake in May 2018, Bayer's pension fund had a 6.8% stake managed separately.

A former piping designer mentioned, "I worked for Covestro for several years. I witnessed several unsafe and antiqued processes. This company has only one thing in mind. Make money for upper management. Also very disorganized. Everyone is almost to retirement stage, so no one works. Everyone is always gone or vacation. Nothing gets done. What I learned while working there was what I taught myself. No management direction. Their huge turnover rate is hidden by their internship conversions. Get em in cheap and work them hard. Contractors are treated like dogs."

Former Employee - Finance says

"Management is a joke. All previous managers except one were pushed out by Big Bayer. New players are not knowledgeable. one guy left wants to cruise and retire early. HR is dumber than a bag of rocks. The dead end jobs and nepotism will drive any motivated person away."

Current Employee - Millwright says

"Upper management and HR is Corrupted. They bend and break rules and lie for each other. Very very hot. Only Butt kissers are prompted"

Former Employee - Anonymous Employee says

"Management seems to reward a 'yes man' mentality that produces group-think, and appeared out of touch with day-to-day work. Limited opportunities for advancement. Some of the longer-term 'Bayer-era' employees seem highly mistrustful of change, and could sometimes engage in seemingly petty unhealthy behavior toward newer employees. Workplace compliance issues sometimes did not appear to be dealt with appropriately."

Current Employee - Production Technician says

"The atmosphere and culture alike that exists at Covestro is terrible. Management doesn't seem to care about operations at all. Technicians are miserable and always in a bad mood about work. Overtime is ridiculous, so forget working your normal DuPont schedule and actually getting some time away from your unit. Workload is extremely high and expectations are unrealistic. Overall not an enjoyable place to work, you won't be happy here and neither will your co-workers."

Former Employee - Anonymous Employee says

"Lack of opportunity for advancement. Management out of touch with day to day work. HR policies are implemented but frequently disregarded. Pockets of "old boys' club" still exist. Tenured employees are quickly pushed aside for the flavor of the week."

Former Employee - Buyer says

"very slow, almost no promotion opportunities, many smart people were pushed out"

Current Employee - Productian Technician says

"Longevity of shift work makes it difficult on relationships, especially when your days off are bombarded with having to cover overtime. Advancement is almost impossible even with a college degree and multiple years of experience. Production technicians are treated like second class citizens all while given increasing responsibilities and expected to accomplish more with less. Management through fear is common practice."

Current Employee - Process Engineer says

"Tend to promote employees strictly on number of years of experience and not the quality of work a given employee produces."

Former Employee - Maintenance says

"Does not promote women just gives worthless titles to placate them."

"Management is poor and most employees migrated from Bayer Corporation. Slack on projects and deadlines and commitments. Promises made to contractors but never follow through. Contractors are treated as outsiders."

"I worked here for 8 years and gained a wealth of knowledge and experience. I wish that I could have stayed, I really enjoyed it there. But they started cutting people who had been there for over 20 years like they were nothing and I realized I had to get out of there immediately. The upper management really took a turn for the worse.Great People to Work WithHorrible Global Management"

Redakteur, Content-Manager (Former Employee) says

"Covestro wurde erst vor wenigen Jahren gegründet und das merkt man. Viele Arbeitsprozesse befinden sich noch in der Findungsphase. Zudem ist es schwer möglich sich auf ein Projekt zu konzentrieren. Die Unternehmenskultur erscheint auf den ersten Blick offen, freundlich und arbeitnehmerfreundlich, im Endeffekt sind jedoch Klügel, Intrigen und Kürzungen an der Tagesordnung."

Sr Research Chemist (Former Employee) says

"Covestro was a good place to work but as management changed over the last two years it became a more difficult place and challenging to work. The changes in the company resulted in lots of employees turn over and loss of critical skills in the workforce.Great team work and personnelManagement lack of concern for its empoyees."

Internal Consultant/Project manager (Current Employee) says

"Covestro is a very generous employer, you can get a very high salary and some really interesting financial advantages (insurances/2nd pillar) but for this comes at a cost. Despite what the company pretend, Leadership does not like to be challenged and if you should rather say yes to everything if you want to do a succesful career within this company.
